Description
Hermes is the Greek designation for Thoth, the ancient Egyptian. Manetho says that Thoth exhumed engraved tablets which he interpreted in several books that were later deposited in the sanctums of the temples. Plate, in his Phaedrus says that Thoth was the inventor numbers and letters. On the chiseled inscriptions of the Rosetta stone he is the twice great.
