Description

Hermes is the Greek designation for Thoth, the ancient Egyptian.  Manetho says that Thoth exhumed engraved tablets which he interpreted in several books that were later deposited in the sanctums of the temples.  Plate, in his Phaedrus says that Thoth was the inventor numbers and letters.  On the chiseled inscriptions of the Rosetta stone he is the twice great.

Of the 42 books mentioned by ancient historians, I … herein translated.  The reader will understand why this work has survived so many nations, for so many thousands of years.  The cycles of creation and destruction, the seven zones, the nature of man’s soul, rules for liberation, the eighth sphere, echo an arcana that built the Great Pyramid.

The Secret Doctrine by H.P.Blavatsky, elucidates much that seems obscure here, and singles out this translation often, though several others were at hand.  This is photographic copy of the 1884 edition which was reset verbatim with that of 1650, plus introduction.
